ITF Singer Sakchi Tiwari Rishra

My name is Sakshi Tiwari. I’m 18 years old, and am studying in grade 11. I live in Kolkata city with my family which consists of 4 people. I come from a poor family and my father works in a jute mill. My father is my primary teacher who taught me how to sing. I first started singing in school and later participated in a school competition which I ended up winning. After that, I was called to sing bhajans in a religious vigil or two. People liked my bhajan there and I started getting calls from various vigils. Thus, I started doing bahjans in religious vigils actively.
Later on, one day I noticed an advertisement for India Talent Fight on my phone and thought about auditioning for it.
I auditioned for it online without the knowledge of my family, and got a sudden phone call after, telling me that I had been selected. My father was initially against this due to our poor background and income, but when my mom and brother explained to him about what an incredible and possibly non- recurring opportunity this was, he agreed. He took me to Uttarakhand and with the blessing of the goddess, I got selected there too.
