Kathak: More Than a Dance, An Emotion
By Shiksha Agarwal
Kathak is not just a dance form—it is a profound emotion that lives within every classical dancer. It is a beautiful expression of storytelling, rhythm, grace, and devotion that connects the dancer’s soul with the audience. For me, Kathak is not merely an art I practice; it is an inseparable part of who I am.
Hello everyone, I am Shiksha Agarwal, a 14-year-old student of Sri Chaitanya Techno School, Lucknow. I am a Kathak Nrityangana, deeply passionate about dance. While I consider myself a versatile dancer who enjoys exploring different dance forms, Kathak remains my true calling and primary focus.
My journey with Kathak began at the tender age of five. Since then, it has been a continuous process of learning, dedication, and self-discovery. Each tatkaar, every spin, and every expression has helped me grow—not just as a dancer, but as an individual.
I thoroughly enjoy performing in cultural programs, where I get the opportunity to showcase my art and connect with audiences. Performing on stage gives me immense joy and confidence, making every effort worthwhile.
Apart from learning and performing, I also love teaching dance to others. I strongly believe that sharing knowledge enhances our own understanding and helps us improve. Teaching young learners gives me happiness and inspires me to become better every day.
My ultimate goal is to become a Kathak Guru—someone who not only masters the art but also passes it on to future generations with the same passion and dedication.
Kathak, for me, is a journey of emotions, discipline, and endless learning—and I am proud to walk this path.
