Ajit K.R. Kakoty is a passionate singer from Guwahati, Assam, whose lifelong journey reflects a beautiful blend of music, discipline, education, and cultural heritage. With roots deeply connected to traditional values and a profound admiration for Indian music, Ajit discovered his love for singing during his childhood, around sixth standard.
Inspired by legendary voices such as Mohammed Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Mukesh, and Lata Mangeshkar, along with iconic Assamese artists Bhupen Hazarika and Jayanta Hazarika, he cultivated a strong musical foundation from an early age. His dedication to music led him to begin training in tabla and violin during his school years, further strengthening his artistic expression.
During his pre-university college years, Ajit earned recognition by securing third position in “Bangeet,” an Assamese folk song competition, showcasing his talent and commitment to preserving regional musical traditions.
Beyond music, Ajit has always maintained an active and disciplined lifestyle. He actively participated in football, badminton, and carrom, while also contributing to agricultural work alongside his father, who was both a farmer and photographer. His upbringing instilled in him self-reliance, discipline, and a strong work ethic, qualities that shaped both his academic and personal success.
Ajit pursued higher education with remarkable dedication, ultimately earning an M.Tech in Textile Engineering and serving with distinction as a Selection Grade Lecturer in Technical Education before his retirement.
Today, Ajit K.R. Kakoty continues to follow his true passion for singing while promoting a healthy lifestyle through regular exercise and wellness practices. His journey stands as an inspiring example of balancing professional excellence with artistic devotion.
